Audi is the Only Auto Manufacturer Wining 7 Titles
A few days ago, Audi A3 was announced the winner of 2014 world car of the year, industry-leading judges from all over the world have voted it as number one under various categories. This is the second time in last ten years of World Car of the Year Awards history that Audi has secured overall title, the first was in 2005, inaugural overall title won by Audi A6. Thanks to its sleek design and powerful Audi A3 engine, it is the official world beater.
To be crowned as the 2014 World Car of the Year, Audi A3 had beaten 23 cars from other auto makers. An international jury panel of 69 top level automotive journalists, all came from 22 countries of the globe, voted A3 as the winner.
On this auspicious occasion Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG humbly said: “The Audi A6 was the first ever winner of this award and we are delighted that the Audi A3 has repeated that achievement by beign voted 2014 World Car of the Year. The Audi A3 showcases Audi’s technical competence in all aspects of car making, not least in the areas of lightweight technology, drivetrain, mobile infotainment and driver assistance system. This major award win is an achievement that the whole company can celebrate.”
The UK market will enjoy all three body types of A3 as a three door, Saloon, Cabriolet and Sportback. A range of TDI diesel and TFSI petrol engines are available to power these vehicles. Audi has announced that an e-tron version of A3 Sportback will be available later this year which will travel up to 31 miles in all-electric mode with its plug in hybrid drive system.
It was year 1996 when Audi introduced its first generation A3 model series which soon gave the market a whole new meaning in the premium compact class. In 2003 the second generation was introduced with the addition of Cabriolet to the body styles of three door and Sportback which helped Audi in extending its brand lead. And now the third generation of A3 has further added another body style, the Saloon.
Audi is the only manufacturer who has won 7 World Car of the Year titles.
